Freshly fallen leaf on snow, Braunschweig, Germany
While taking an afternoon walk this freshly fallen leaf caught my attention. The late afternoon sun made it almost glow on the snow.

Winter Alley, Germany
When the first major snow of this coming winter was fallen last weekend, I remembered a place where I once shot a picture called "ice needles" and went there expecting exactly what I can show above: a beautiful alley of trees where the branches are covered with snow. The sun gave the picture the nice bright high-key finish.

First Signs of Fall, Harz, Germany
After almost two months I stole some time to get out and spend a morning in the Harz taking pictures. The fresh and crisp air of the early morning was just a delight and I was able to find some nice uncrowded spots before the usual weekend rush of visitors came by. Here I found some leafs in between the seasons nicely covered with a bit of early frost.

Zig Zag, Waterfall detail, Harz
Revisiting places often gives new ideas and new perspectives. Ever so often I visited the Radau waterfall in the Harz and still I find new and interesting views of the falling water and/or the mossy rocks. Here's an image of the zig zag-shaped way the water takes on its way down.
I modified the image in Photoshop with the help of a Plug-In called Fractalius. Applying the plug-in and playing with the controls puts the creative process beyond just taking the picture. So here's one possible result and here's another more moderate one.

Flower #1, Harz
Not much to say about this picture--just that macro work often shows nature from it's most beautiful side.

Summer view, Oker reservoir, Harz, Germany
That was just a great day to be outside! Visiting old places is always interesting especially if you find or try out new views or unorthodox methods to take a picture like this one. I had a tripod with me, but the images I took just didn't work, because I couldn't get low enough for the image I had on my mind. So I simply put the bubble level into the flash hotshoe and handheld the camera just a few centimeters above the water of the creek. Voilá!

Canola (Rapeseed), Bugs view
Every year again the beautiful bright yellow color of Canola (or rapeseed) is tempting lots of people to take images. Here's a different perspective.

Cherry trees in full bloom
At the beginning of May the cherry trees were in full bloom so that it was really a joy to walk around. Temperatures were in the low 20s Celsius and there was no denial of spring anymore. Too bad the nice weather lastet only for a few days--so did the cherry blossoms.

Early blossoms
When I got home early one day I saw a cherry tree in bloom standing behind a maple tree right at a main street just a few meters away from my home. So I grabbed my gear and took a walk to get some images of the scenery while standing on the street. It wasn't too easy though, because besides I had to deal with the traffic it was very windy.

Snowy tower, Braunschweig, Germany
Today we got a bit of a break from gray clouds and dark skies--today we got a bit of blue sky! Ok, at first it was still snowing a bit, but the snow on the church tower and the chicken on top of the tower is just a thin layer that will soon melt away. The weather people are still not sure, if the snowy part of the winter will end soon or if it will stay 'til March.

Snowlines
Still winter, still snow. The wind makes nice soft lines when it piles up the snow and forms it like a dune. Here's an example.
